Dan. ‘en trave korn;’ in the phrase, raunlítið kemst opt á þrefa, small efforts soon make a shock, i. e. small matters soon grow into a quarrel, Mkv.; or is the metaphor from þref? cp. Gísl. 44 (above s. v. þref).
