u, a fable, parable; in old translations, the parable of the is rendered by ‘dæmisaga,’ 22; but in versions and writers since 1540 a distinction is made, and dæmisögur are fables, of Aesop, Reynard, or the like; whereas the parables of the are called ‘eptir-líking;’ heyrit mik ok mína dæmisögu, 399.
