són
nafnorðkvenkyn
[ sühne, ver-söhnung]:—an atonement, sacrifice, of the heathen age; this ancient word remains in the Norse only in a few : sónarblót, sónardreyri, sónargöltr.
II. Són was the name of one of the vessels in which the blood ot Kvasir (the mead of wisdom and poetry) was kept, ; hence poetry itself is called fyllr Sónar, id.: orða-sáð Sónar, the word-seed of Són, inspired poetry, Kormak. This whole myth belongs to the mysteries of the heathen poets.
