also ein-yrki, a, [verk]. a single worker, one who works single-handed, a poor husbandman that has no servants; the einyrki is reckoned partly as bóndi, and not cottager; he could serve as a neighbour (búi) in case of his property amounting to two cows’ value per head of his household (wife and children), i. 145, defined in ii. 42, 43: the Norse sense of the word, 438, 184: in i. 199 distinction is made between bændr, einhleypingar, and einyrkjar.
