a, [ fana; fana; and fano; fahne; pannus]:—a standard, gunn-fáni, 40, ; else it is rare and hardly used in old prose; even in old poetry vé is the usual word:— a buoyant, high-flying person is now called fáni; so, fána-ligr, buoyant; fána-skapr, buoyancy in mind or temper; the sense given under ‘’ belongs no doubt to a different word, borrowed in the 15th century from the fawn; thus fánast uppá e-n = to fawn upon.
