nafnorðhvorugkyn
a box of laths or a basket to carry peat and the like on horseback, with a drop at the bottom, 65, (mó-hrip, torf-hrip.) hrips-grind, the frame of a h., id. Hence the phrase, það er eins og að ausa vatni í hrip, ‘it is like pouring water into a sieve,’ ( ‘Danaidum dolia implere’), of useless efforts: hurried work, hurried writing, as if dropped out of the quill.
